WASH

It’s good idea to clean a bike before a lay-up, which will help avoid corrosion. Our Gel Motorcycle Cleaner great results without costing the earth. We also have a range of Autosol Specialist Polishes for those who want to really go to town on cleaning. 

CORROSION PROTECTION

Using Scottoil FS365 after washing will leave the bike with a fine coating of corrosion protection. It’s safe to use on the whole bike but needs to be washed of brake friction surfaces with water if it’s accidentally sprayed on them.

FUEL SYSTEM

It can be a good idea to fill the tank before storing a bike to reduce corrosion. But petrol contains ethanol which is hydroscopic, so it can absorb small amounts of moisture. Use our Liqui Moly Petrol Stabilizer or our ERC Anti-Corrosion Additive to help keep the corrosion at bay and avoid fuel system issues come spring.

BATTERY

If the machine is not ridden regularly, it’s best to have a maintainer/charger to keep the battery in good order. Our JMP SKAN Chargers will charge & maintain any battery type, including Lithium batteries. They come with fly leads and croc clips, so are useful for charging multiple vehicles. If a bike is stored without access to electricity, our Battery Master Isolator Switch can help reduce discharge while not in use. Connecting one of our SKAN Battery Monitors allows remote Bluetooth battery monitoring. The battery can be checked on the free smart phone app without having to uncover the bike! 

TYRES

Storage can affect tyres. Make sure the tyres are at the right pressure with our Mini Foot Pump. It’s portable, fast & requires minimal effort but no electric power. Ideally it’s good to move the bike occasionally, so it doesn’t sit on the same spot on the tyres for months at a time. Alternatively, we have a big range of front, rear and centre motorcycle stands that help keep weight off the tyres.

COVER

Covering the bike is a must- outdoors or in the garage. Apart from keeping it dry, a cover will help keep the bike clean and protect against minor storage knocks. We have a range of covers for all machines HERE.
