ACTION NEEDED: SALE OF ACID PACK BATTERIES & ACID

In common with all other suppliers, we are required to ask our trade customers purchasing battery acid or acid pack batteries to register their business details and provide photo identification.

This is required under the Control of Explosives Precursors and Poisons Regulations 2023. This aims to limit the risk of harmful substances being used for illegal purposes. To comply with this legislation, when you order a restricted product, we’ll email you with how to register the required information with us. The email will contain a link that requests basic information on your business and a photo identification upload for the business owner or purchaser. It’s a simple one-off process that will take a couple of minutes and is best carried out on a smartphone. We’ll hold the information for 18 months, after which you’ll need to re-register.

If you’d like more information, click HERE to view the Home Office guidance.

We’d like to remind all trade customers that acid pack batteries must be filled & activated before sale to the public, unless the customer has a valid Explosives Precursors and Poisons (EPP) licence. Similarly acid sales to the public are prohibited.

Pre-filled & activated batteries, such as Gel & Lithium batteries sales are not affected by the above regulations.
